A passion for riding Catrikes is the core of Let’s Trike. Combining many elements into one activity drives us. Our motto: Family Friends Fun Fitness Faith encapsulate our experiences.

Let’s Trike began in the Spring of 2019. The Long Beach VA Hospital Cycling Program sponsors monthly rides for Vets. We arrived with seven Catrikes which allowed more Vets to ride at once. Family members were also able to join the rides. With the blessing of the Occupational Therapists, we implemented “un-official” rides once a month. These rides involving persons with challenges, forms the charitable aspect of our endeavor, called Abilities. The magic of a Catrike was realized when a Veteran is lifted out of a wheelchair and a trike is placed under them. Seeing them ride is wonderful.

During this same time, Dallas attended Bay Area Recumbent Riders events. He was impressed with Glen McWilliams, the group’s Pilot. Along with being an excellent leader on the Saturday rides, he also is the trike-assembler for Richard’s Cyclery, a Gold – Level Catrike Dealer. A warm friendship developed. Dallas was privileged to assist Glen with the assembly of three Catrikes he had purchased.

Meanwhile, percolating in the background were group rides with soccer teammates and friends. These laid the concept of providing group rides to the public. Glen agreed to provide his excellent piloting skills to Adventures.

September 2019, Dallas attended Walk ‘n Roll to cure ATAXIA. A connection was made with Orange County ATAXIA. Since then, many rides have occurred with those who have the neurological degenerative disorder. With no balancing required, these individuals experience enhanced mobility while riding.

Weekend and weekday rides mix together Veterans, persons with ATAXIA, soccer teammates and friends. Additionally, persons with Parkinson’s Disease, ALS and Dementia ride with us. We have loaned Catrikes to some riders while they wait for their own trike.

Fall 2020, we have achieved the goal of obtaining 14 Catrikes, 6 different models with 2 having electric-assist. These are all transported in an enclosed trailer to ride locations.
